Rich Creek, Virginia, May 23, 2013- The Town of Rich Creek, Giles County, Riverview Commons, the New River Valley HOME Consortium, and Community Housing Partners will celebrate the start of construction of Summit Place with a groundbreaking program at 11am on Thursday, May 30 at the site, 116 Old Virginia Avenue, Rich Creek. All are invited to be a part of the beginning of this exciting new opportunity for the New River Valley.

Summit Place will provide residential supportive living for people 62 and older. It will be the most affordable supportive living community in the New River Valley with fees based on an all inclusive sliding income scale. Supportive services such as meals, assistance with daily living, transportation to various locations, and planned social activities will be included. Summit Place will have 23 single rooms with private bathrooms and common living and dining areas, allowing residents a combination of individual privacy and community activity. It is owned and operated by Riverview Commons, Inc., with management assistance and oversight provided by the Riverview Nursing Home, an established non-profit 501(c) (3).

This residential community was designed to supply the New River Valley with a high quality affordable option for healthy aging. It is being funded through the New River Valley HOME Consortium, the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development (VDHCD) Community Development Block Grant program, the VDHCD HOME program, and private foundation funds.

The groundbreaking will include brief comments by Butch Mullins, Giles County Chamber of Commerce and Riverview Board Member; Tina King, Executive Director, Area Agency on Aging; Gary Eaton, Mayor of Rich Creek; Barbara Hobbs, Chair, Giles County Board of Supervisors; Janaka Casper, President and CEO, Community Housing Partners; and Elisabeth Willis, New River Valley HOME Consortium.
